BANGOR – Harriet Rollins (Irish) Sherrard, 90, wife of the late Earl A. Sherrard of Bangor, died Oct. 25, 2004, at a local healthcare center. She was born May 31, 1914, in Haynesville, the daughter of Burleigh and Virginia (Rollins) Irish. Harriet was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute of Houlton, Castine Normal School and the University of Maine. She taught school in the Bangor and Brewer school systems for many years, was a member of the Maine Teachers and the Penobscot Chapter of Maine Retired Teachers Associations. Harriet was a member of the Columbia Street Baptist Church and the Jennie Riley Circle of the church. Surviving are two children, Deanna S. Condon and her husband, John, of Eddington, Gerald E. Sherrard and his wife, Linda, of Unity; six grandchildren, David, Douglas “Doug,” Deborah, Diane, Kimberly and Kevin; one sister, Marjorie Crocker of Vancouver, Wash.; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Peter Sprague, pastor of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshment at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service on Thursday. Friends who wish may contribute in Harriet’s memory to the Memorial Fund of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, 63 Columbia St., Bangor.
