ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Harris O. Porter, 80, of Zephyrhills, Fla. died Feb. 10, 2005, at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Crystal, the son of Andrew X. and Sona Grace (Ham) Porter. He is survived by one daughter, Darleen L. Lougee of Veazie; and one son, Michael H. Porter of Zephyrhills; one granddaughter, Constance Lougee Thorne; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher N. and Kimberly L. Thorne, all of Brewer. He is also survived by brothers, Maurice A., Raymond A., and Colby O.; and sisters, Annie Jane Smith and Jeanne A. Smallwood. He was predeceased in 2003 by his wife of 60 years, Vivian (Prescott) Porter; by brothers, Richard W., Wayne A., Oakley K., Arthur H. and Ralph E. Harris was a potato farmer in Crystal for many years and worked as a purchasing agent for Island Falls Starch Co., as well as, being an insurance agent for 25 years with Concord General. He was past master of the Island Falls Masonic Lodge, a member of the Patten Grange and the Island Falls Fire Department, and he served as selectman for Crystal and as a school board member for Island Falls. In 1980 he and his family moved to Zephyrhills. Arrangements are being made by Oakley Funeral Services of Dade City, Fla. Interment will be in the Island Falls Cemetery in the Spring.
