ELLSWORTH – Hazel Marguerite Beal Sawyer, 96, died Feb. 10, 2004, at an Ellsworth healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Clifton H. and Lucy E. (Severence) Beal. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Congregational Church, Ellsworth. She is survived by one son, Robert Sawyer and wife, Nancy, of Ellsworth; two daughters-in-law, Mary Jane Sawyer, of Ellsworth and Sylvia Sawyer of Osborn; six grandchildren, Anne, Jeff, Mike, Shelly, Jamie, and Mark; several great-grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Sawyer, of Machias; She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm; and two sons, Richard and James. Spring graveside services will be held at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Activity Fund at Courtland Rehab & Living Center, 42 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
