LIBERTY – Hazel Mildred Tibbetts Bradstreet passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, after a long illness. Hazel was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Middleboro, Mass., the daughter of Wesley Vernon and Emily (Pratt) Tibbetts. Hazel attended grade school in Montville and Liberty, and graduated valedictorian of her class from Walker Memorial High School, Liberty, in 1944. Hazel worked for the Maine Department of Human Services for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Belfast, where she enjoyed making crafts and wreaths and volunteering at church fairs. She was a supporter of local sports, a past member of WCGH aide, past member of Belfast Public Health Nursing Board, a member of the Eastern Star and Honesty Grange, Morrill. Hazel also loved to quilt and sew. Hazel is survived by her husband of 61 years, J. Edwin Bradstreet of Belfast; son, Dennis Bradstreet of Salem, Mass.; and daughter, Diane Bradstreet and her husband, Michael Conner, of Robbinston. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Darci Bradstreet and husband, Frederick Berry, Alison Bradstreet and fiance, John Segalla, Amanda Bradstreet and Bo Conner; as well as two brothers, Earl Tibbetts of Portland, and Dr. John Tibbetts of San Leandro, Calif.; two nieces, one nephew and several cousins. Friends may visit noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at First Congregational Church, Belfast, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Spring Interment at Morrill Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel’s memory to First Congregational Church, Belfast or the American Diabetic Association. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
