NEWPORT – Hazel Huntington Palmer, 102, died Nov. 14, 2003, at a Pittsfield health care facility following a long illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1901, in Kenduskeag, the daughter of Albert and Josephine (Lord) Duran. She was educated in schools of Dover-Foxcroft. Hazel was married to Henry Huntington who died in 1962 and to Manley Palmer who died in 1981. She was a former member of Central Grange in Dover-Foxcroft, past president of the Glenburn PTA, a charter member of Naome Circle of Glenburn and a former chairman of the Ways and Means Committee of the South Brewer PTA She was Newport’s oldest citizen and holder of the Boston Post Gold Cane. She is survived by two sons, Ervin Huntington of Columbus Ga., and Kenneth and Marvis Huntington of Detroit; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two nieces; and several cousins. Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at the Dover Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
