BANGOR – Hazel Marion Blaisdell McLeod, died peacefully July 14, 2006, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Walter Roscoe and Hazel Marion (Chase) Blaisdell. She was the beloved wife of John Thomas McLeod Jr. for a very happy 58 years. Together they raised three fine sons. Together they attempted to serve God and the people that needed their care. Marion and John were original founding members of the Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Bangor. They have been very active in the church filling positions as needed. Their church home and family have been at the center of their lives and they were blessed by God and His constant loving care, in all areas of their lives. Marion graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1943 and from Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1947. She was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp. After graduation, she worked at EMGH doing general duty: pediatrics, cardiac unit, polio care, maternity care and private duty, and for 10 years she was director of nursing services at Bangor Convalescence Center. She is survived by her husband, John T. McLeod Jr.; brothers, Willard Hazen and Arlene (Tibbetts) Blaisdell and Raymond Colby and Phyllis (Hewes) Blaisdell; sister-in-law, Nettie McQueen Blaisdell of Dallas; three sons and their wives, John Walter and Judith (Day) McLeod, of Mission Viejo, Calif., David Thomas and Carole (Lindsay) McLeod, of Bangor and James Willard and Bethshan (Gough) McLeod, of Glenburn. They were thrilled to be blessed with 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and were always very interested in their lives. Grandchildren Jennifer McLeod of Columbia, S.C., Steven Andrew McLeod of Mission Viejo, Calif., Heather Anne McLeod of Bangor, Jonathan David McLeod and wife, Misty, great-grandchild, Dillion Taylor McLeod of the U.S. Navy, Rebecca Anne McLeod of Utica, N.Y., Merrianne Ellen McLeod, Matthew James McLeod, Micah John McLeod, Mark Edward McLeod, Malachi Joshua McLeod, Michael Jeremy McLeod, Moriah Beth McLeod, all of Glenburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves several very, dear friends, including Jay and Sharon Memmelaar of Goldsboro, N.C., and many others to numerous to name. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Walter R. Blaisdell Jr. of Dallas; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Walsh) Blaisdell of Framington, Mass. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 375 Mount Hope Ave., with the interment and reception after.
