BREWER – Ralph E. Patterson Sr., 93, husband of Arleen (Lawrence) Patterson of Brewer, went to be with his Lord and Savior July 15, 2006, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 5, 1912, in Bangor, the son of Albert R. and Mary W. (Norwood) Patterson. Ralph graduated from East Corinth Academy in 1930. He worked as a civilian aircraft mechanic for the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Ralph worked for Northeast Airlines for 25 years and then was employed with Delta Airlines in Bangor for seven years. He was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brewer where he served on the board of deacons, was a member in the choir and was the Sunday school superintendent for 20 years. Ralph was the chairman of the Maine Sunday School Association for many years. He lived in Florida for 20 years and had recently moved back to Maine, where he became a member of the West Hampden Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Arleen (Lawrence) Patterson; three daughters, Judy Adams and husband, Robert, Dorothy “Betty” Igoe and husband, William, all of Brewer and Mary Pelletier and husband, Philip, of North Andover, Mass.; one son, Ralph E. Patterson Jr. and wife, Diane, of Glenburn; a stepson, Larry Bradman of Bangor; a stepdaughter, Dawna Clapp of Eddington; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by three grandchildren; a brother, Fred; first wife, Arline Humphrey; and second wife, Mae Hicks. Ralph’s family thanks the staff of Westgate Manor for the wonderful care they provided. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral serves will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, with Pastor Charles Farley of the West Hampden Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
