DOVER-FOXCROFT and ABBOT – Hazel Patterson Hansen, 91, died June 13, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Aug. 23, 1914, in Moscow, the daughter of Scott and Mabel (Bean) McLaughlin. She owned and operated Pat’s Lunch and Pat’s Grocery in Abbot with her husband, Everett Patterson, for several years. Also in Abbot, they built and operated together the H & E Tavern, now known as the Wagon Wheel. After the death of her husband in 1972, she continued to operate the tavern for a few years. Hazel enjoyed her family, gardening and flowers, crocheting and knitting. She married Alfred “Butch” Hansen in 1974. They enjoyed music, dancing and fishing until his death in 1995. Hazel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 119, Guilford. Hazel was predeceased by a daughter, Betty McArthey in 1984; and a stepson, Larry Hansen. She is survived by her three children, Everett “Lloyd” Patterson of Abbot, David L. Patterson and his wife, Tanya, of Abbot and her daughter, Darlene E. Durgin and her husband, Louis, of Dover-Foxcroft. For several years, Hazel made her home with her daughter. Hazel also is survived by her five stepchildren, James Hansen and his wife, Elizabeth, of Charleston, Nancy Craig and her husband, Keith, of East Corinth, Susan True and her husband, Robert, of Harmony, Ruth Violette and her husband, Linwood, of Hartland and Thomas Hansen and his wife, Susan, of Corinth. Hazel has 14 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Hazel has one surviving brother, Bernard McLaughlin of Skowhegan. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the Abbot Evangelical Free Church in Abbot. Hazel will be buried beside her husband in the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford.
