DENMARK – Helen Everett Walker, 85, of Denmark died April 26, 2004 at the Bridgton Hospital. Helen was born April 7, 1919, in Bangor, the daughter of Louis and Letitia (McManus) Everett. She attended local schools and business school in Concord, N.H. She married John H. Walker in 1938 and she lived in Brownfield for 72 years, 62 years at Merrill’s Corner Rd. She was a bookkeeper 32 years for Walker Chevrolet. She was a founding member of the Brownfield Historical Society. She made ceramic dolls and their clothing and dollhouses that she furnished. After the death of her sister at a young age, Helen opted to have no children but to raise her sister’s children as her own. She was predeceased by her husband in 2001. She is survived by two sons, Philip E. Maynard of Hiram, Roger M. Maynard of Bowdoinham; one daughter, Rhonda Rowe of Princeton, N.C.; one brother, William Everett of New Limerick; two sisters, Betty Hardgrove of Ivoryton, Conn., Sally Metsger of Inverness, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Brownfield with the Rev. John Fillmore-Patrick officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Helen to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, ME 04037. Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
