WINTERPORT – Helen G. (Sawyer) Willis, 64, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sept. 20, 2007, while at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born in Winterport, the ninth child of Albert L. Sawyer Jr. and Myrtie (Bowley) Sawyer. Helen worked for shoe manufacturing and electrical components companies for many years while raising her six children. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Helen was talented at and enjoyed crafts work. She loved making quilts, afghans, dolls and crocheting. Helen also enjoyed playing bingo, coffee club with her sisters and friends, her cat, Boaz, but most importantly spending time with her children and family. She is survived by her children, Bobby D. Porter and companion, Bonnie Menard, of Sanford, Wayne A. Porter of Saco, Regina L. Mosley and husband, Randy, of Ellsworth, Rose E. Porter and companion, Warren Brown, of Frankfort, Teresa A. Marciano and husband, Frank, of Greenbush and Francis A. Porter and wife, Julie, of Waterbury, Conn.; brother, Larry A. Sawyer Sr. and wife, Barbara, of Winterport; sisters, Joyce Palmer of Winterport and Mary E. Ginn and husband, Bernard Sr., of Winterport; grandchildren, Joseph, Donald, Brandi, Alicia, Randi, Jennifer and Katelyn; great-grandchildren, Danya and Robert; the father of her children, Reginald Porter Jr. of Winterport; nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bobby J. Willis; and brothers and sisters, Rita Brown, Betty Taylor, Albert Sawyer III, Eleanor Bartlett, Marilyn Surette and Bessie Neal. Visiting hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Steve Nute, pastor of Nealley’s Corner Church, officiating.
