MILLINOCKET – Helen J. (Leet) Joy, 72, went home to her Lord Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Millinocket, to Thomas and Phyllis (Boyington) Leet. Helen was married to the late Manley Joy who died in 1993. She was a long time member of the VFW Auxiliary in Westbrook, Conn., Patten, and Millinocket. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Millinocket. Helen was a strong supporter of the Disabled American Veterans and also supported Father Flannery’s Boys Home for many years. She was a past member of the Millinocket Emblem Club. Helen was always giving of herself to help others. She loved her family and tried to be there for her children, her many sisters-in-law, and her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family and spent many hours knitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed feeding her humming birds and other wild animals. May we never forget the raccoon that turned into a bear in Patten, or the coyote that had the bad leg on the Golden Road in Millinocket. She leaves a very special friend of 10 years, Rex Hartley of Millinocket; her only son, David A. Dickey of Woodville; her three daughters, Arlene Sochia of East Douglas, Mass., Nancy Doyle and her husband, John, of Millinocket, Cathy King and her husband, Jimmy, of East Millinocket; Rex’s four sons, Harold, Scott, Steven and his wife, Lisa and Peter and his wife, Kim; 14 grandchildren, David Dickey and wife, Heidi, of Medway, John Dickey and Karry of Presque Isle, Adam Dickey and Casey of East Millinocket, Phil Stinchfield and wife, Mary, Thomas Stinchfield and wife, Jen, Teddy Sochia and Hope and Tara Sochia, all of East Douglas, Mass., Lynn Flattery and husband, Jim, of Abington, Mass., Kevin Doyle and Debbie of Medway, Scott Cote and wife, Molly, Tina Dionne and husband, Keith and John “J.R.” King, all of East Millinocket, Ron Cote and Amy of Bangor; 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, both of her parents, all of her 12 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Carl Doyle. Though she leaves many that will miss her, she joins even more of those that she loved. We know that we will see her again, when we too are called Home. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where officers and members of the American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at the funeral home with Pastor Allen B.
