MEDDYBEMPS – Helen Mae Ward, 76, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 6 1928, in Calais, the daughter of Thomas William and Helen (Flagg) Gordon. Upon her mother’s death, Helen was lovingly raised by an aunt and uncle, Gertrude and Charles Pomeroy. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil E. Ward on July 12, 1997, and two sisters, Pauline Nixon and Eleanor Stewart. Surviving are four daughters, Paulyne Wakefield and her husband, Tom, of South Portland, Brenda Shope and her husband, Lance, of Brewer, Judy Crosby and her husband, Glenn, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and Janet Ward of Machias; brother, Thomas William Gordon of Calais; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Burial will be in Meddybemps Cemetery.
