SACRAMENTO, Calif., and BANGOR – Helen Marie (Leek) Washington, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 20, 2008. She was born March 22, 1926, in Bangor. Helen resided in Sacramento, Calif., from 1958 until her passing. She retired from McClellan AFB and worked as a Channel 3 volunteer. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, David A. Washington and Gladys, and Robert E. Washington Jr. and Shirley; nephews, Brian Leek and Christopher Leek; great-nephews, Ryan Levesque and Marcus Leek; grandchildren, Byron S. Murrill, Katrice Jenee Miller, Kimberly Marie Washington and Isaiah E. Washington; great-grandchildren, Branton James Allen and Megan DeVaughn Murrill; sister-in-law, Geraldyne Washington; and former husband, Robert E. “Santee” Washington Sr. She also leaves a host of loving and caring relatives and friends. Friends are welcome for visitation 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Morgan Jones Chapel of Chimes, 4200 Broadway, Sacramento, Calif. The quiet hour will be held 6-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1 at St. Andrews AME Church, 2131 8th St., Sacramento, Calif. Interment will be private.
