BANGOR – Helena Helen Tompkins, 89, wife of the late Bill Tompkins, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1914, in Bangor the daughter of Pearly and Edna (Hammond) Howard. She was a member of the Norombega Rebekah Lodge No. 135 of Bangor, the Golden Age of Bradford, Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant of Bangor, the Bangor Senior Citizens Club, RSVP volunteers for nine years and the Pine Tree Past Noble Grand. She is survived by two special nieces, Robin and her husband, Keith Greenlaw, of Hampden and Theresa and her husband, Rodney Wells, of Bangor; niece, Donna Ouellette of Bangor; two nephews, Kenneth Spaulding and Perley John Spaulding of Bangor; many cousins including special cousin, Howard Goss of Kenduskeag. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two special cousins, Evelyn Wardell and Lenora Gibbs. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev Peter Sprague, pastor of the Columbia Street Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the service Tuesday to the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery Bangor.
