VEAZIE – Helene H. Flagg, 93, died unexpectedly Jan. 20, 2007, at a Bangor assisted living facility. She was born Helene Gertrude Hudson April 26, 1913, in Balboa, Canal Zone, the daughter of Henry Herbert Hudson and Anna (Bamberg) of Boston. Her father was claim officer for the Panama Canal. She was a graduate of Balboa High School and the Wilfred Academy of Boston. Helene grew to love Maine from childhood summers spent at the family cottage in Bayside. She lived in the Bangor/Veazie area since 1932 and married Guy M. Flagg in 1939. She remained a licensed beautician for 60 years. Helene enjoyed a wide range of activities including oil painting, golf, gardening, sewing, card playing and summers spent at Roach Pond. She was active in Athene, the Veazie Garden Club and the Veazie Senior Citizens. She is survived by two children, Bonnie F. McClure and husband, Roderic, and Bruce H. Flagg and wife, Ellen; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1994, three sisters and one brother. A celebration of her life is planned for early summer.
