PRESQUE ISLE – Aline M. Fortin, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at a Clearfield, Utah, health care facility. She was born April 30, 1923, in Fort Kent, the oldest child born to Victorie and Dora (Vaillancourt) Charette. Aline worked for the state of Maine for many years as a custodian. She had a gift for crafting such as sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was a proud and stubborn lady as well as a perfectionist in all that she did. Aline also loved to listen to opera and classical music, and walking to the mall to shop. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. She is survived by five children, Carole Lane of East Haven, Conn., Diana Ferland and her husband, William, of Presque Isle, Elizabeth Dube and her husband, Raymond, of Phoenix, Carlton Fortin and his wife, Paula, of Kaysville, Utah, and Dana Fortin of Presque Isle; six grandchildren, Darlene Suarvez, Marlene Gogliettino, Joseph Lane, all of East Haven, Conn., Michele Ferland of Frenchville, Jason Ferland of Kaysville, Utah, and Jessica Fortin of Lewiston; four sisters and two brothers, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Fortin; a granddaughter, Karla Fortin; and a son-in-law, Joseph Lane. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Ray Morency, celebrant. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service. A reception will be held after at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
