FORT FAIRFIELD and FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Henry J. ‘Chic’ Dewley, 83, husband of the late Gerrgia (Sprague) Dewley, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at a Fredericton, N.B., hospital as a result of injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Bath, N.B. He was born Feb. 25, 1922, at Bath, N.B., the son of Lewis and Eliza (Ruff) Dewley. Henry was a member of the Fort Fairfield High School graduating, Class of 1940, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe as an infantryman and earned the rank of master sergeant. Henry was married to Georgia Sprague on Aug. 10, 1948, and was employed for many years by the H.G. Everett Co., as a carpenter. Mr. Dewley was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart No. 6187, Fort Fairfield, and will be remembered as a talented carpenter and craftsman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dewley was predeceased by his wife, Georgia, on Jan. 10, 2000; six brothers, Roy, Arthur, Chester, Lester, Lewis Daniel Jr., and Truman Dewley. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Karin Dewley of Portland, Mich.; six brothers, Reginald Dewley and his wife, Irene, of Sinclair, Earl Dewley and his wife, Margaret, of El Paso, Ill., Ralph Dewley and his wife, Ann, of Greer, S.C., Harold Dewley of Presque Isle, Larry Dewley and his fianc?e, Sharon Zahn, both of Davison, Mich., Guy Dewley and his wife, Peggy, of Swartz Creek, Mich.; three sisters, Bertha Ashley and her husband, Lane, of Wilmington, N.C., Thelma Curtis and her husband, Roy, of Winslow, Gloria Larson and her husband, Gary, of Long Prairie, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kyle and Courtney Dewley, both of Portland, Mich.; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. with Asa Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A reception in Chic’s memory will be held immediately after the interment at the Lions Club, Forest Avenue, Fort Fairfield, sponsored by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Dewley to the American Diabetes Association, Maine Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 2208, Augusta, ME 04338-22008. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
