CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Herbert Alton Snowman Sr., 81, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the family residence. He was a former resident of Waterville and moved to Cleveland in 1996. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was a teacher for 35 years and enjoyed teaching English and History. He was an avid fisherman and musician who taught and involved all his children in music. Mr. Snowman was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth Snowman and was also predeceased by a brother, Stanwood Snowman; and a sister, Mildred Michaud. Survivors include his wife, Gilberte Michaud Snowman of Cleveland, Tenn.; seven children, Helen McLaughlin and Lee Hopkins of Litchfield, Marie Baker and husband, Tom, of Holden, Dr. Brenda Snowman and husband, Jimmy Palmer, of Cleveland, Tenn., Herbert A. Snowman Jr. and wife, Victoria, of Cleveland, Stanwood Snowman and Stephen Marshall of Annapolis, Md., Jille E. Snowman and Michael Dubreuil of Cleveland, Tenn., and Dr. Patrick Snowman and wife, Lisa, of Cleveland, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Annie, Alison McLaughlin, Joshua, Adam LeBreton, Brae Snowman, Carrie, Mara, Leah Snowman, Jacob Snowman; one great-grandchild, Gilbert Rasmussen; a sister, Emily Davidson of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 12 noon Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Yeaney officiating and Herbert Snowman Jr. speaking in the service. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
