JONESPORT – Herbert “Herb” R. Faulkingham, 75, passed away July 22, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 29, 1932, in Beals, the son of the late Richard and Della (Seavey) Faulkingham. Herb was educated in the Beals school systems, after which he joined the U.S. Navy. He proudly served aboard the USS Polaris in Korean waters from 1951 to 1955. After returning from duty, he became involved in all aspects of the fishing industry, his last being a seafood dealer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working and camping. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eva; one son, Gordon Faulkingham and his wife, Cathy, of Jonesport; two daughters, Brenda Kelley and husband, Carl, of Clifton and Jonesport, and Holly Plaisted and husband, Virgil, of Gor-ham; six grandchildren, Shawn and wife, Brianne, of Rock Hill, S.C., Amber and fiance, Michael, of Bangor, Kegan of Clifton, and Dean, Joshua and Matthew of Jonesport; and two nieces, Paula Wilson and Carol Davis of Addison. Herb was awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild in February. He was predeceased by his only brother, Lester Faulkingham. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Sewall Field Cemetery, Beals, officiated by Pastor George Woodward. www.bragdonkelley.com
