BANGOR – Arthur George Dickinson, 89, died July 13, 2008, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born June 2, 1919, in Harmony, son of Harry and Edna (Giggy) Dickinson. Arthur was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He had been a grocer and carpenter in the greater Bangor area for many years. Surviving are a son, Adam Dickinson of Bangor; stepson, James Dickinson of Eddington; stepdaughter, Helen Willey of Hampden; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Matyskiela and her husband, Henry; one aunt, Marge Hutchin, all of Carmel; one half brother, the Rev. Ronald Dickinson; a half sister, Arlene; a nephew, Barry Chadbourne of Niantic, Conn.; and a niece, Donna Standerwick of Port Angeles, Wash. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Kathy Macedo, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 10:45 a.m. at the Superintendent’s Lodge, State Street entrance. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
