MILO – Herbert W. Weiss, 91, husband of the late Anne (Odrich) Weiss, died Nov. 19, 2003, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born June 14, 1912, in Bridgeport, Conn., the son of Walter T. and Lydia (Shoberg) Weiss. Mr. Wiess had served his country in the U.S. Army with the 28th Division, 112th Infantry, Company L, during World War II. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Joseph P. Chaisson American Legion Post No. 41, American Legion Post No. 11 and VFW Post No. 45, both in Bridgeport, Conn., and the Military Order of Purple Heart Joshua Chamberlain Chapter No. 1865. Mr. Weiss was a member of the Bradford Baptist Church, where he was involved with the Senior Friends. He is survived by daughter, Ruth Nutter and her husband, Warner, of Milo; a brother, Russell of Milford, Conn.; a sister, Vivian Willette of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Greg and his wife, Kelly Nutter, Wendy and her husband, Kevin Badger, and Carole Nutter; four great-grandchildren, Michele, Keith, Brandon, and Spencer. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with American Legion services said at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Bradford United Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Booker officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the VA National Cemetery of Massachusetts in Bourne, Mass. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
