EASTON- Herman D. Tompkins, 80, died unexpectedly at his home April 17, 2004. He was born March 2, 1924, in Easton, the son of John and Hazel (Nicholson) Tompkins. He had worked in the construction business for many years, until his retirement 18 years ago. Herm was well liked by all those that knew him. Surviving him are two sisters; a brother; and he and Mabel’s seven children, Dana W. Tompkins of Easton, Ronnie E. Tompkins of Overland Park, Kan., Helene Ouellette and her husband, Tom, of Lewiston, Linda LeVassuer and her husband, Phil, of Fort Fairfield, Sharon Tompkins of Portland, Wanda Nadeau and her husband, Norman, of Hampden, and Carol Taylor and her husband, Geoff, of Kennebunk; three grandsons and three granddaughters, Kris and Dustin LeVassuer, Sarah Shaw, Tyler Page and special friend, Nadine Deschaine, Marci Page and Katie Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Caleb “Caliber” and Zander Page; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Gary Tompkins. Friends called 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the funeral home. Interment followed at Pine Tree Cemetery, Easton. Those who chose may make contributions in Mr. Tompkins memory to a charity of one’s choice.
