VAN BUREN – Herman G. Rossignol, 58, died Oct. 24, 2004, at a Caribou hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 19, 1946, in Van Buren, the son of Rene and Corinne (Gagnon) Rossignol. Herman worked in the construction trades for many years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving a tour in Korea during the USS Pueblo Crisis. He was a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Herman was a member of the local AA group and was proud to have achieved 29 years of sobriety. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Irene (Ruest) Rossignol of Van Buren; two brothers, Larry Rossignol and his companion, Carol Desjardins, of Van Buren, Danny Rossignol and his wife, Jackie, of Caribou; five sisters, Ina Helkowsky and her husband, Robert, of York, Rena Smith and her husband, Gordon, of Albuquerque, N.M., Donaldine Soucie and husband, Raymond, of Somersworth, N.H., Velma Sperry and her husband, Lyman, of Perham, Mona Mongeon and her husband, Georges, of St. Leonard, N.B., Canada; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 2001, and by his mother in 2004. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and noon until time of service on Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
