CHERRYFIELD – Hollis C. Fickett, 91, went to be with the Lord at an Ellsworth hospital Feb. 25, 2004, following a brief illness. He was born at Cherryfield, Dec. 7, 1912, the son of Hollis and Josephine (Johnson) Fickett. For a short time Hollis operated a trap mill in Cherryfield supplying lathes and other lobster trap materials to local lobstermen. Hollis was then employed by the J.C. Milliken Agency in Cherryfield from 1952 until he purchased the business from Mrs. Milliken in 1966. In 1970, his son, Richard, joined him in the business. Hollis had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherryfield since boyhood and had served as Deacon and in several other capacities for many years. For many years he was an active member of the Downeast Camp of the Gideons International and had been a longtime member of the Milbridge-Cherryfield Rotary Club. He was a member of the Hancock-Washington Board of Realtors and had been a member of the Bangor Board of Realtors. He is survived by one son, Richard Fickett and his wife, Joyce; one granddaughter, Lynn, her husband, Lou Dublin and their children, Elise, Aaron, Ethan, Nate and Caleb, all of Cherryfield; one grandson, Hollis, his wife, Dea and their children, Justin and Matthew, all of Lamoine; one sister, Evelyn Fickett of Brewer; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Fickett of Virginia and Kathleen Fickett of Cherryfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 66 years, Esther M. Fickett in March of 2001; two brothers, Paul and Harold; two sisters, Marguerite and Marie. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Cherryfield with the Rev. John Good officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Cherryfield.
