ROCKPORT – Claude Romeo Beaupre, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, Rockport, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Velma Leighton Beaupre. They where married May 24, 1942. He was born March 31, 1916, at Connors, the son of Louis L. and Mary Guerette Beaupre. He attended Connors schools and drove a team of horses hauling wood from the forest. He moved to Thomaston, and then lived at Rockport. For 47 years he repaired and sold Maytag and Kelvinator refrigerators and washing machines. He sold Bolens garden tractors He was a lifetime member of Beaver Lodge and chairman of its house and grounds committee. He was a lifetime member of the Antique Power Association at Skowhegan fair grounds. He enjoyed watching and feeding the many birds around his home, and he enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of a bowling team. He was predeceased by four brothers, Clifton, Leo, Louis and Emery Beaupre; and a sister, Viola LePage. Survivors include his wife of Rockport; two sons, Stephen H. and wife, Alana Beaupre, of Warren, Ronald L. Beaupre of Rockport; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Schneider of Dansville, N.Y., Mrs. Florence Waldron of Dansville, N.Y., Mrs. Rita Hoffman of Dansville, N.Y., Mrs. Audrey and husband, Fred Belanger, of Atlanta, N.Y.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. A springtime committal service will be held at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor, and will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, Thomaston.
