ELLSWORTH – Honor Elizabeth O’Dowd Carney, 85, died unexpectedly April 19, 2004, at the Mayo Regional Hospital in Castlebar Co Mayo, Ireland, while on holiday with her oldest grandson, Michael Jordan and his family. She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Rathbane Knockmore Co Mayo, Ireland, the oldest child of Patrick and Catherine O’Dowd. She is survived by her three children of Ellsworth, Mary Kelley, her husband, James and their son, Mathew and his wife, Lori of Charleston, S.C., Ann Jordan, her husband, Ronald, and their children, Michael Jordan, his wife, Linda, and their children, Zachary and Elizabeth; Mary Elizabeth Carter, her husband, Glen, and their children, Catherine and Jordan, Patrick C. Jordan, his wife, Rhonda, and their children, Bridget, twin sons, Patrick Orion and Ronald Asa, of Ellsworth; a son, David W. Carney, his wife, Cindy, and their three children, Teresa C. Higgins, her husband, Michael and their daughter, Nicole, Jennifer C. King, her husband, Heath, and David R. Carney; sisters, Bridget Burke of Braintree, Mass., Ann Murray of Beverly Farms, Mass., Mary “Molly” Barrett of Crossmolina, Co Mayo, Ireland and a brother, Edward O’Dowd of Rathbane Co Mayo, Ireland. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Margaret “Maggie” Cocoran; brothers, Patrick, James, Anthony, Michael and John O’Dowd; several nieces and nephews from Ireland, England and Massachusetts. Services were held in her home village of Rathbane Knockmore Co Mayo, Ireland at Christ the King Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ellsworth. Interment will be at Jordan’s Cemetery.
