MAPLETON – Hope D. McPherson, 93, went to her heavenly home May 29, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was the first child of Nathaniel and Verna (Turner) Dicker, and was born April 30, 1915, in Mapleton. She worked many long hours and years as a busy farmer’s wife. She was a member of Mapleton United Methodist Church, and Castle Hill, Chapman and Mapleton Senior Citizens. She loved walking with her daughters, playing scrabble with them, watching her birds and enjoyed living in her small apartment in Living Easy Estates. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family. She and Linwood had eight children, Wilbur and Barbara McPherson of Pennsylvania, Anita Morin of Mapleton, Clarron McPherson of East Holden, Grenda and Roger Stephenson of Castle Hill, Claudine MacBurnie of Presque Isle, Stuart and Chris McPherson of Ashland, Cynthia and Alan Chalou of Castle Hill, and Cheryl and Phillip Duperry of Ashland. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Linwood; sister, Annis Pelkey; brother, Clifford Dicker; and parents, Nat and Verna Dicker. A celebration of her life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Mapleton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dorothy Matson officiating. Relatives and friends may call 2 p.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be at South Side Cemetery, Chapman. There will be a gathering of friends and family for refreshments after the interment at the church.
