MERRILL – Horace B. Russell Sr., 76, died Feb. 4, 2005, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 24, 1928, in Howe Brook, the son of Zadoc and Edith (Chambers) Russell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He retired from the B & A Railroad. Horace is survived by his wife of 56 years, Addie Lilley Russell of Merrill; four children, Horace and his wife, Denise Russell Jr. and Frederick and his wife, Alma Russell, all of Merrill, Joyce and her husband, Rodney Ouellette, of St. Francis, Rhonda and her husband, Delmer Ouellette, of Fort Kent; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one stepgranddaughter; six sisters, Emma Jean Furrow, Eugena Phelps, Drucilla Ewings, Lucille Mitchell, Florence Noyes and Shirley Roy. He was predeceased by one son, Lewis; one great-grandson, Tyson; two sisters, Clara and Blanche; five brothers, Walter, Zadoc, George, Daniel and Herbert. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Smyrna Cemetery, with full military honors.
