BANGOR and EDDINGTON – Horace Irving Saindon, 79, of Bangor and a resident of Eddington for 28 years, died March 20, 2006, at Togus VA Hospital Nursing Facility. He was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Bangor, the son of Napoleon Joseph and Madeline (Myrick) Saindon. Horace served both theaters of World War II in the U.S. Navy and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring in 1969. After retirement from the military he started his second career as an inspector for the General Services Administration, retiring due to ill health in 1990. He was a life-member of the DAV State of Maine Chapter. Horace was an avid outdoor enthusiast enjoying gardening, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Joanne (Bolduc) Saindon of Bangor; three sons, James Lee Saindon and his wife, Virginia, of Utah, Napoleon “Joe” Saindon and his wife, Lila, of Gorham, Charles Robert Saindon and his wife, Estelle, of Lyman; one daughter, Christina C. Kish of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Saindon of Bangor, Pat Herbert of Florida, and Noreen Peters of Glenburn; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Roland Nadeau, Catholic chaplain of St. Joseph Hospital officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
