PITTSFIELD – Hortense Emma Farrington, 81, died May 21, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1923, at Burlington, a daughter of Alvah and Marinia (Hurd) Sibley. She was an impeccable housekeeper and homemaker. Although her husband belonged to many organizations, Hortense was content to support him in the background. She was a member of the Canaan Union Church. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jasper A. Farrington Sr. of Pittsfield; three sons, Jasper “Arnie” Farrington Jr. and wife, Rita, of Pittsfield, Michael Farrington and wife, Anne, Fay Farrington and wife, Caroline, all of Florida; two daughters, Theresa Elkins of Augusta, and Arlene Turner of South Portland; two brothers, Alvah and wife, Eva Sibley, Francis and wife, Dorothy Sibley, all of Burlington; three sisters, Carolyn Boynton of Fryeburg, Kathy and husband, Gerome Zinkle, of Washington State, and Shirley Campbell of Bucksport; 13 grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Thelma Harriman; two brothers, Woodrow and Franklin Sibley; and a grandson, Christopher Turner. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Diana Perkins, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of services. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Hortense was a resident of the Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility for seven years. The family would like to thank the staff for their loving care.
