CALAIS – Howard B. Cottrell, 88, passed peacefully with his family by his side and went to be with his Lord and Savior April 28, 2008. He was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Calais, the son of George and Azelia (Phillips) Cottrell. Howard served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated his own barbershop in Winterport and Mattawamkeag. Howard was predeceased by two sons, Phillip and Craig Cottrell; three sisters, Azelia Harper, Eunice Wheaton and Romona Ellwell; and three infant brothers. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lorraine of Calais; three children, Dana Cottrell and his wife, Penny, of California, Stephen Cottrell and his wife, Sheila, of Baring, and Gail Cottrell of Calais; a sister, Lovina Cochran of Princeton; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Private graveside services for the family will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, at Calais Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
