HOWARD HAROLD TRAFTON CORINTH – Howard Harold Trafton, 74, the husband of Nathalie (Strout) Trafton, died peacefully March 24, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1933, in Fort Fairfield, the son of F. Harold and Vera (Shannon) Trafton. He graduated from East Corinth Academy, Class of 1951. After the death of his father in 1956, he took over the family farm and on June 26, 1959, married Nathalie Strout of Charleston. Later he worked for Western Auto and retired from Bangor Hydro after 23 years of service. Shortly after retiring, Howard served as ‘road commissioner’ of County Road, Corinth, assisted by his trusty 56 Farmall tractor. Howard had always been an avid fan of Central High School sports, in particular following his granddaughters as they played sports for Central. During his retirement, Howard enjoyed spending his time at White Tail Golf Course, which he helped to build. Howard was also a faithful fan of the Red Sox and Celtics, and enjoyed watching the games with his cat, Suzy. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Corinth, are two children, Shari (Trafton) Duthie and her husband, Scott, of Charleston and Michael Trafton and his wife, Denise (Brown), of Corinth; three special grand-daughters, Renee, Rachel and Roberta; a special granddog, Kayleigh; a sister, Barbara Strout of Corinth; a brother, Jim Trafton and his wife, Marylin, of Waldoboro; an aunt, Hazel Goodine of Perth-Andover, Canada; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Howard was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Murray. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Ronald E. Libby officiating. Spring burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
