BANGOR – Hyland Forrest Kimball Jr., passed away Aug. 15, 2005. “Hy” as he was called, was born March 13, 1919, in Bangor, the son of H. Forrest and Abigail Kimball. He graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass., and attended Bentley School of Accounting, before joining the Army Air Corps in 1942, serving in Europe during World War II as a bombardier/navigator. In 1943, his fianc?e, Ruth Stewart, traveled from Quincy, Mass., to Albuquerque, N.M., where he was stationed at the time, and where they were married on Feb. 13, 1943. Of this union four sons and one daughter were born. During their marriage they lived in Georgia, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Florida, before settling in New Mexico in 1985. Hy and Ruth loved spending their summers at their camp on Pushaw Lake in Orono and their winters at their home in Deming, N.M. He was an avid golfer, artist and private pilot. He was a member of the Elks and was a Mason. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth; his sons, Hyland “Skip” and wife, Ernestina, Bruce and his wife, Margery, Stephen and wife, Vicki, all of Columbus, N.M., Eric of Deming, N.M.; daughter, Lyana Moreira and husband, Joe of Littleton, Mass.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
