VEAZIE – Ida D. (Allen) Stevens died Aug. 5, 2007. She was born Dec. 12, 1908, in Merrill Township, to Delia (Fowler) Allen and Thomas Allen. She was educated in local schools and Beal Business College, before marrying and moving to Old Town in 1936. Music and her voice gave her great pleasure. She sang whenever she could, in church choirs, choral groups, as well as for many weddings. She retired from the University of Maine in Orono, as supervisor in data processing and was a life member of Katahdin Chapter No. 121 Order of Eastern Star, Old Town and the Rebekahs. After moving to Old Town, she joined Old Town Methodist Church, moved to Stillwater, transferred to the Federated Church and finally to Veazie, where she joined the Congregational church. She was the fifth child of 12 and was predeceased by her husband, Howard F.; her live-in sister, Madeline Roberston, six brothers and four other sisters. She leaves two children, Howard “Buzz” Stevens of Trenton; a daughter, Jeannette S. Blodget of Bucksport and their spouses, Laurie Stevens and Benjamin B. Blodget; seven grandchildren, Dale B. Stevens, Cynthia S. McFarland, H. Scott Stevens, Alison B. Willing, Ann Blodget-Savageau, Thomas L. Blodget and Charles S. Blodget; seven great-grandchildren, Meghan Willing, Luc and Rachel Savageau, Jay and Lindsay Blodget, Keaton and Brook Stevens; many nieces and nephews throughout the states and abroad, and all of her friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where an Eastern Star memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. conducted by the officers and members of the Katahdin Chapter No. 121, Old Town. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Brookings-Smith, Bangor, with the Rev. Allen C. Myers officiating. Interment will be at Veazie Cemetery.
