ORONO, 76, died peacefully June 18, 2006, at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Olamon, a daughter of Raymond and Eldora (Hamel) Commeau. Ida loved to cook, collect recipes, and read cookbooks. She was a school cook for many years. She enjoyed the music of the Irish singer, Daniel O’Donnell and reading poetry. She and her husband, George, loved to travel and camp and especially enjoyed it when their grandkids came to visit. She is survived by seven children, Mary O’Leary, Sarah Trask and her husband, Douglas, Dan O’Leary and his wife, Dawn, Eva Legere and her husband, Les, Peter O’Leary, Emily Westerfield and Michael, Katie Marquis and her husband, Greg; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred Commeau and Dickie Commeau; and a sister, Priscilla Bouchard. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
