BANGOR and NORTHEAST HARBOR – Inez Fennelly Henckler died Nov. 19, 2006, with her three devoted children by her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Northeast Harbor, the daughter of Andrew Eric and Eva Swenson Fennelly. Inez grew up in Northeast Harbor and graduated from Gilman High School in 1940. She married Charles William Henckler of St. Louis and they made Northeast Harbor their home and raised three wonderful, loving children. Inez was best known for hosting large family gatherings around the holidays at their home on Rock End Road. She welcomed in many stray and orphaned wild animals from raccoons to seagulls. She was even known to have successfully performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a duckling that had drowned in a pool. She was a great lover of family and animals. She will be sadly missed by her dog, Christopher Robin. She was employed in many various jobs. She was a cook for the Mount Desert High School, Northeast Harbor, a private caretaker and caregiver and retired at the age of 77 after working 25 years as a police dispatcher for the towns of Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor. She is survived by a son, Charles T. Henckler and his wife, Connie, of Chelmsford, Mass.; a son, Donald E. Henckler and his wife, Joyce, of Oviedo, Fla.; a daughter, Martha H. Pojasek and her fianc?, William Gladstone, of Bangor; nine grandchildren, Charles Henckler and his wife, Laura, of Chelmsford, Mass., Christine Hizny and her husband, Adam, of Billerica, Mass., Michael Henckler and his wife, Kristen, of Winchendon, Mass., Adam Henckler and his wife, Laura, of Oviedo, Fla., Aaron Henckler and his friend, Mara, of Boston, Meghan Pojasek of Bangor, Harrison Pojasek of Bangor, Sarah Gladstone and her fianc?, Nicholas McNally, of Bangor and Lindsay Gladstone of Auburn; four great-grandchildren, Katherine and Charles Henckler of Chelsmford, Mass., Micaela and Colin Henckler of Winchendon, Mass.; many nieces, nephews and their families from Maine to Norway. Inez was predeceased by her husband, Charles; seven siblings, William Fennelly, Thomas Fennelly, Eric Fennelly, Esther Rogers, Martha Langford, Alice Nicholson, Margaret Boyington; and a loving daughter-in-law, Patricia Henckler. Memorial services will be held in the summer at St. Mary’s by the Sea, Northeast Harbor.
