ROCKLAND – Inez Marion Bowley Harden, died Sunday evening, June 18, 2006, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage a short time earlier at her home. Born Dec. 23, 1921, in Rockland, she was the daughter of Archie W. and Mabel A. Brewster Bowley. Inez was a 1939 graduate of Rockland High School. Since 1939, she had been an active member of Rockland Congregational Church. Through church activities she met her future husband, Fred E. Harden Jr. Inez and Fred were married at her parents’ home, Nov. 23, 1941. Mrs. Harden’s life was centered around her family, her church and her community. Mrs. Harden was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred E. Harden June 1983. She is survived by her devoted sons, David O. Harden and his wife, Patricia, of Lynn, Mass., Brian R. Harden, currently mayor of Rockland; two sisters, Grace Bowley Gavett of Vienna, Va., Ruth Bowley Grafton of Thomaston; five nieces, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held Wednesday, with interment at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
