OAKFIELD – Irene Betschner, 79, died June 11, 2005, at Houlton. She was born July 22, 1925, in Oakfied, the daughter of George and Margaret (Pratt) Richards. She is survived by four sons, George and his wife, Mary and Michael and his wife, Mitzi, all of Pennsylvania, Frank of Smyrna and Robert and his wife, Diana, of Oakfield; one daughter, Loantha Brunton of Bangor; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milford and Clyde; and four sisters, Sadie Carmichael, Melvina Demerchant, Kathleen Jones and Lila Sargent; one sister-in-law, Nadine Richards. She was predeceased by her husband, John; one stepson, John Jr.; 12 brothers and sisters. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Kirby Rushton officiating. Interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery.
