BANGOR – Irene D. Day, 90, wife of the late George S. Day, died Oct. 24, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born in Orient, Maine, the daughter of Charles P. and Bessie V. (Taylor) Drew. Irene was a 1934 graduate of Brewer High School and worked for Merrill Trust Co. for more than 30 years, in various capacities retiring as the vice president of personnel. She was a volunteer for the Bangor Filter Center and was a member of the Toast Mistress Club and the Athene Club. Irene enjoyed flower gardening, playing bridge; belonging to several clubs. Surviving are two children, G. Peter Day and his wife, Alice, of Bangor, and Penny Cassidy and her husband, Terry, of Glenburn; seven grandchildren, G. Steven Day and his wife, Paula, of Rumford, Christopher Day and his wife, Lori, of Bangor, Timothy Day and his wife, Elizabeth, of Benton, Cathy Regios and her husband, Philip, of Portland, Terri-Anne Priode and her husband, Jan, and Jennifer Turtlotte and her husband, Robie, all of Glenburn, and Michael Cassidy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hamilton, Mass.; 17 great-grandchildren, Caitie, Cristen, Megan, G. Christopher, Adam, Drew, Samantha, Abby, Rachel, Justin, Jack, Ainsley, Colin, Lily, Maren, Kate and Baby Day; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Larry Sargent of Bar Harbor. She was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and Norman Drew; and one sister, Florence Sargent. She will be remembered by a special friend, Joan Recker of Brewer. Irene’s family thanks the staff of Eastern Maine Medical Center and Bangor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their kind and gentle care. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where friends and family may visit 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. The Rev.
