NEW LIMERICK – Irene G. Cowan, 86, died June 8, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1918, at Bancroft, the daughter of William Charles and Zena (Lee) Gillis. Irene is survived by her son, Byron H. Cowan Jr. of Bay Minette, Ala.; her daughter, Jean C. Jordan of Waterboro; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Ansel Gillis; her sister, Helma Lee, both of Danforth; one brother-in-law, Bernard Cowan of Mount City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Byron H. Cowan Sr., in 2002. Interment will be in the Danforth Cemetery. A service of Dunn Funeral Home.
