MARS HILL – Irene M. McGaughy, 82, died Saturday Nov. 22, 2003, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born June 10, 1921, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Henry and Elteen (Thibeault) Knowles. She married Superintendent Clifford J. McGaughy on July 29, 1939, and was predeceased by him in 1969. She taught elementary school in Washburn, Mars Hill and was a member of the Methodist faith. She is survived by a son, Lane of Salem, Ore.; a daughter, Linda Clarks of Summit, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill. Those who wish may donate in Irene’s memory to the United Methodist Church of Mars Hill, P.O.
