VAN BUREN – Irene M. Roy, 85, died Jan. 24, 2005, at a Van Buren nursing home. She was born Oct. 17, 1919, in Cyr Plantation the daughter of Leonard and Rose (Lurette) Lavoie. Mrs. Roy worked as a custodian at the US Customs and Immigration station in Van Buren for 25 years, retiring in 1983. She is survived by one daughter, Claudette Pitre and her husband, Rosaire, of Van Buren; two sons, Michael “Red” Roy and his wife, Marie, of Van Buren and Eugene Roy of Van Buren; one sister, Anita Cormier of Bristol, Conn.; five grandchildren, Mark Roy, Peter Roy, Kimberly Roy Larsen, Jamy Roy, and Jason Pitre; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Larsen, Madison Larsen and McKenna Roy Levesque; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Roy in 1999. Relatives and friends may call 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
