SANGERVILLE – Irene P. Carleton, 87, died Sept. 29, 2004, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Sangerville, the daughter of George and Louise (Ronco) Dulac. She worked as a mender at various textile mills throughout her lifetime. Irene was an avid outdoors person, enjoying hunting and fishing with her husband, Charles and her parents. She was a 39-year member of the Stott-Flanders American Legion Post Auxiliary of Sangerville. She is survived by three daughters, Rita Waterhouse and her husband, Gerald, of Sangerville, Sherrill O’Connor and her husband, Arthur, of Greenville, and Janice Carle and her husband, Carroll, of Sangerville; a son, Barry Carleton and his wife, Margie, of Sangerville; eight grandchildren, Shelly Erickson of Abbot, Jill Baker of Eastbourne, England, Bruce Reed of Greenville, Mike Reed of Dover-Foxcroft, JoAnn Lovell of Guilford, Debbie Carle of Abbot, Brook Carleton of Guilford, and Ryan Carleton of Sangerville; 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, sev-eral nieces and nephews; a special brother-in-law, Daniel “Gus” Carleton of Massachusetts; several cousins, including a special cousin and dear friend, Mary Carleton of Guilford. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles O. Carleton; and a grandson, Scott Waterhouse. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, and 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery in Sangerville.
