CASCO – Iva F. Reynolds, 94, a resident of the Casco Inn Residential Care Facility in Casco for the past seven years passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 17, 2005. She was born Nov. 30, 1910, in New Gloucester, Maine, the youngest child of Berton and Gertrude (Penney) Webb. On Nov. 18, 1961, she married Merriam “Red” Reynolds at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Portland, and they made their home on Mechanic Street until 1997. Iva was known for her kindness, generosity and deep love of family and will be most remembered for her devotion to her husband, Red, who predeceased her on May 25, 1998. In 1952, along with her sister, Elsie Perry, she undertook the responsibility of helping raise her great-niece. An outspoken advocate for animal rights and passionate cat lover, over the years she adopted several pets and donated her time and money to the care of animals in need. Some of her favorite memories included the times spent with her husband and friends at the Cummings Center in Portland. Her sister, Elsie Perry and brother’s Merle and Ray Webb all predeceased her. She is survived by her great-niece and her husband and son, Debra, William and Kristoffer Rhoads of Casco; and several great-nieces and nephew of Cherryfield, ME A private family graveside will be held at the Rose Cemetery in Brooks. In lieu of flowers and donations, Iva would be most pleased if all that knew her would remember to love and treasure their family and friends, and show kindness to each other and all God’s creatures.
