CARIBOU – Ivan Osgood Geraw, 76, technical sergeant U.S. Army, retired, died May 23, 2007, at his Caribou residence. He was born July 26, 1930, in Montgomery Village, Vt., the son of Gerald and Blanche (Akans) Geraw. He was a graduate of the University of Maine – Presque Isle, and was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he helped set up for Mass for numerous years until his health would not permit it. Ivan served with the U.S. Army for more than 21 years, serving during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous awards and commendations, including the Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp, and Marksman Medal. Ivan was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and spend time with his family, especially his grandson, Frankie. He always loved a good meal and will be remembered by many as a very patriotic individual. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda (Patane) Geraw of Caribou; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Micheline Patane of Connor, and Roger and Debbie Patane of Woppenger Falls, N.Y.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where members of the VFW will conduct memorial services 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Interment will take place at Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
