HODGDON – Ivy Folsom, 97, died March 23, 2006, at her residence with her daughters and her two special companions “Maggie” and “Sambo” by her side. She was born April 14, 1908, in Eastbourn, England, the daughter of Samuel E. and Rose (Fuller) Wright. Ivy was born in England then traveled with her parents to Canada in 1909, celebrating her first birthday on the Atlantic Ocean and later came to the United States. She was a member of the Hodgdon Methodist Church women’s club where she held the title of official dishwasher, a lifetime member of the Monticello Grange, the Pomna and Maine State Grange, a member of the Rebekah’s and the Monticello Riding Club. Ivy is survived by one son, Dean and Melva Folsom; two daughters, Patricia and Roger Quint and Catherine Janus; 12 grandchildren, Dennis and Bonnie, Candice and Larry, Tommy and Beth, Timmy and Julie, Mitchell and Pati, Meredith and Phyllis, Becky and Marty, Melva Jo and Kevin, Julie and Scott, Kellie and Fred, Danny, Cindy and Dale; 28 great-grandchildren, Clarissa who was very helpful, Crystal, Karl, Katie, Adrianna, Rachael, Denny, Ashlee, Dylan, Natalie, Alyssa, Amanda, Holly, Sara, T.J., Barrett, Daniel, Sherene, Emily, Dylan, Kaylyn, Lindsey, Jennifer, Venessa, Jessica, Kristin, Ben and Sara; 14 great-great-grandchildren, Vickie, Kye, Nathan, Brady, Marissa, Jessica, Seth, Craig, Zander, Danika, Connor, Keegan, Morgan and Lindzi; a family friend, Martha Annett; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; an infant son, George Edward; a son and daughter-in-law, Weldon and Gloria; special granddaughter, Vickie Flewelling; son-in-law, Fred Janus; two brothers, George and Edward Wright; one sister, Ruby Gibson. Private funeral service for family and relatives will be held 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Dunn Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Jewell Cemetery.
