MILBRIDGE – J. Franklin Beal, 88, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at his home in Milbridge. He was born April 29, 1916, in Jonesport, the son of Eugene C. and Sarah E. (Lenfestey) Beal. Franklin graduated from Milbridge High School, Class of 1934. He served in the Army in the engineering unit in the Philippine Islands from 1943-1945. He was a lobster fisherman for 70 years, a boat builder and a carpenter. Franklin is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth A. (Strout) Beal of Milbridge; his daughter, Joyce Bailey and her husband, Donald; his son, James and his wife, Yasmin; three grandchildren, Kim Bailey Brooker, Jaime Beal, and Keegan Beal and his wife, Erinn; five great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Matthew, and Elizabeth Brooker, Luke Dubois and Alexa Beal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Franklin was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Milton, Amy, Loretta, Charles and Kennard; and a granddaughter, Karen Bailey Dubois. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. James Blanchette officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge.
