JAMES C. MURCHISON PRESQUE ISLE – James C. Murchison, 84, died April 16, 2008, at a Ban-gor health care facility, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Caribou, the son of Helen (Dale) and Charles Murchison, both deceased. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1941. From 1942 to 1945, he served during World War II in the European Theater, in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 88, having served as vice commander, was a life member with the Fort Fairfield VFW, and for 17 years served as treasurer for Presque Isle Elks Lodge No. 1954. He retired from The Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. after 30 years of service. As a retiree, he worked for the USDA and for General Foods, as their field representative for Aroostook County. Surviving are his two sons, James E. Murchison and wife, Gail, of Festus, Mo., and Mark I. Murchison and his fianc?e, Janet Giles, of Orrington; one daughter, Linda Allen and her husband, Bruce, of Presque Isle; one grandson, Larry Ashworth and his wife, Belinda, of Lewiston; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Poole) Murchison; and son, Steven Robert; six sisters, Joyce Lasseigne, Louise Mason, Phoebe Klenzindorff, Rena Brennan, Elizabeth Dodge and Mary Mc-Namara; and one brother, Ivan Murchison. The family thanks the staff at Westgate Manor, Bangor, for the excellent care and attention given to our father during his stay there. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle, with the Rev. David Williams officiating.
