LELAND, N.C. – James Cecil Hunter Sr., died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born April 3, 1936, in Greenville, S.C., the son of the late Theodore Hunter and Amanda Blackwelder Hunter. Mr. Hunter had been employed with Carolina Meat Processors (Thorne Apple Valley) in Holly Ridge, N.C. for more than 13 years. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Rowe Hunter of the home; five children, James Cecil Hunter Jr. and wife, Kyoko, of Hubert, N.C., Ralph Edward Hunter of Asheville, N.C., Jeffrey A. Hunter and wife, Brynda, of Black Mountain, N.C., Andrew E. Hunter and wife, Jill, of Leland, N.C. and Sabrina Doucette of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren, David Hunter, Hana Hunter, Ralph Hunter Jr., Paul Hunter, Kassidy Bailey, Nathan Hunter and Blake Kelley; one brother, Theodore Hunter and wife, Rubenelle, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Larese Hunter of Okeechobee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by the Rev. Randy Stone. Sonny Carlson will give the eulogy. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.
