NEWPORT and BANGOR James E. Buckland, 57, died Aug. 29, 2007, at a Westwood, Mass., hospice, after a long illness. He was born July 31, 1950, in Dexter, a son of William and Helen (Mullins) Buckland. Jim served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Irving Tannery, Hartland; Penobscot Poultry, Belfast; and Woolco department store, Bangor. He was a member of Corinna Post 73 American Legion and a life member of the Paralized Veterans of America. He was predeceased by his mother, in 1996. He is survived by his father, William “T Bob” Buckland and friend, Chris Kelley, of Newport; three brothers, William J. Buckland of Portland, Keith Lentovich of East Machias and Gregg and wife, Pam Buckland, of Detroit; a sister, Alice and husband, John Guay, of Corinna; Aunt Ann and Uncle Richard Michaud, Uncle John and Aunt Millie Buckland, all of Newport; nieces and nephews, Matt Guay, Bradley, Amanda and Billie Buckland, Susanna Sowerby, Lydia and Laura Lentovich. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy officiating. A graveside committal service will be held after the service 2 p.m. at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, with the American Legion officiating.
